Gas Gallon: Amazing way to power your iPhone for 20 years

Here is an interesting piece of news for iPhone lovers, which is unbelievable but true. According to the bigwigs at Exxon Mobil, a gallon of gas possesses sufficient energy to charge your iPhone for 20 long years!

Bill Colton who is a VP at Exxon Mobil made this statement to showcase the power of a single gallon of gas. You can use the gas by charging your iPhone once a day and can continue doing so for all of 20 years and yet you will require just one gas gallon!

Gallon

  • The Logic

Exxon Mobil stresses the fact that gas is one of the most important power generators and is one of the lightest too. It can generate enough energy to run fast cars and is as efficient as gasoline. To take this on a logical note, Exxon Mobil states that if gas can run cars that run at more than 150 miles per hour, then it is no big deal for it to charge your iPhones for 20 years.

This interesting piece of news, albeit hypothetical, has caught the attention of the world that witnessed the iPhone-owned company, Apple, overtaking Exxon Mobil, as the world’s most valued company in the market. Exxon Mobil wanted to reiterate its position by stating that a gas gallon can charge an iPhone once a day for 20 years.

Logically speaking, gas could be the best fuel to charge phones due to its high energy density that is much higher than electricity. This can be visualized in electric run cars that can hardly run up to 100 miles with one charge. However, practically whether it can be implemented to charge phones remains a distant dream. Although a gas gallon may be capable of running heavy cars, the same cannot be said about gas used to charge phones. Exxon Mobil predicts that the future of power and energy will still be gasoline even by 2040.

  • The Requirement

In case gas is used to charged iPhones, you may then come across gas stations that exclusively charge iPhones and the like in the near future. However, this sounds like wishful thinking, since there had not been enough research in this field. There have not been enough studies undertaken to see whether it is feasible to charge iPhones with gas. At present, it is just electricity that has been used to charge phones and tablets. Most of the batteries used in phones have a long shelf life and run well when charged once in two days. The consumption of electricity too is minimal and you require a specific charger to charge your phones.

  • Apple’s move

Apple has already filed a patent for batteries that are powered by hydrogen. Now, one can only wait and watch as to when the day will arrive that we have gas powered iPhones that can run with a single gas gallon for 20 years. Exxon Mobil has surely succeeded in making a point that a gallon of gas truly generates lots of energy, so much that it can charge an iPhone for nearly 20 years, even if you charge it once a day.
